KIDS FIRST! Film Critics

You Can Become a Film Critic!

Film Critic team, you will participate in a six week online training course by seasoned entertainment professionals to prepare you as your role as an official team member. This will prepare you for taking on assignments to attend press screenings, red carpets and various other press events for the latest film, DVD and TV releases.

KIDS FIRST! reporters are asked to commit to serving a term of one year and during that time their will watch and review the newest films rated PG-13 and younger, interview celebrities on and off the Red Carpet and report from other youth media related events. This is an entirely volunteer, unpaid position that costs you nothing to participate in. And you will find that your verbal and language skills, your on-camera and presentation skills and your debate skills all increase exponentially.

Your reviews and red carpet coverage will reach up to 7 million people per event. They will appear on the KIDS FIRST! website, social media, YouTube Channel and our #1 rated, weekly radio show, KIDS FIRST! Coming Attractions, on Voice America Kids Network. They will appear online and in print with our media partners including Huffington Post, Kidzworld.com, Kidsville News, WorkingMother.com, GRAND Magazine and 50 additional publications. This is your chance for your to become a Star Reporter!

The KIDS FIRST! Film Critics program, now in its sixth year, teaches kids critical viewing skills so they can be conscientious media users. We believe that “smart kids make smart consumers.” The number of reporters is limited and, if you are not accepted this time, please enter again. If your child enjoys watching and talking about films, send him or her our way.

The KIDS FIRST! Film Critics have made a name for themselves in Hollywood, interviewing talent on the red carpet and off and their written and videotaped reviews are seen by more than 7 million people every month. They have more than 1750 videos on the KIDS FIRST! YouTube Channel.

The KIDS FIRST! Film Critics have interviewed Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, Morgan Freeman, John Lasseter, Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Mel Brooks, Duane “the Rock” Johnson, Josh Hutcherson, Brad Bird, Jack Black, Willow Shields and many more “A” list as well as a host of lesser know, up and coming actors.

Recent research shows that, during their school age years, most U.S. children spend more hours watching media than the hours they spend in school. Fundamental to KIDS FIRST! mission is teaching children to make critical media choices so that they seek out and use media in beneficial ways.

KIDS FIRST! evaluates, rates and endorses children’s films, DVDs, audio recordings, TV shows, websites/series, apps and games using volunteer, community-based juries of adults and children from diverse backgrounds and offers a variety of means to showcase and enhance consumer awareness of KIDS FIRST! recommended media.
